2 October 2017

Dear all the 5th ACSR participants,

As the President of Asian College of Schizophrenia Research, first and most importantly, I would like to express my humble gratitude to our founding president, Professor Masatoshi Takeda and our immediate past president, Professor Hai-Gwo Hwu for embarking on and successfully continuing the mission of ACSR. I hope both of our former leaders will continually and kindly provide us with guidance and navigation so that our organization, ACSR, will prosper to its utmost success. It is indeed my great honor to be given an opportunity to serve as the ACSR president  from this year until 2019.

The 5th ACSR congress turned out to be a very successful one with the attendance of over 300 registrants from 23 countries, not only from Asian region but from Europe and Africa as well. Without your attendance, the congress would not be as successful. We much appreciate your interest and participation.

ACSR (Asian College of Schizophrenia Research) consists of researchers and clinicians particularly in Asian region who are interested in schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders. We organize the Asian Congress of Schizophrenia Research every two years for exchanging up-to-date knowledge and scientific findings on schizophrenia and providing useful updates about this disease for both psychiatrists and mental health workers. The role of the ACSR and its congresses will continue to be a stimulus for the advancement of schizophrenia research in Asian region. There is no doubt that the global burden of schizophrenia, a chronic serious mental illness, is massive. It also has posed a significant impact on patients’ and their caregivers’ quality of life. For these reasons, a considerable number of research works related to schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders are still needed to translate them to clinical practice for the better outcome for our patients and their family’s well-being.

On this occasion, I would like to invite you to become a member of our prestigious society. There are no membership fees at this moment, and ACSR members are entitled for the discounted rate of registration fees for the upcoming ACSR congress. For those who are interested, please fill out the attached application form and email it to Ms. Rattana at This email address is being protected from spambots. I, as the ACSR President, expect that there will be diverse schizophrenia –related research findings presented at our next Asian Congress of Schizophrenia Research (the 6th ACSR Congress) to be held in China in the year 2019. The details regarding the upcoming congress will be informed in the near future by the Local Organizing Committee.

Looking forward to meeting you again in China in 2019.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Pichet Udomratn, M.D.
